How does the "Database COGS Sync" work?

Whenever orders are synced with Profit Calc. The COGS for the order are calculated by using the currently listed Manual COGS prices. This value is saved with the order. 

If the "Database COGS Sync" is turned off (default setting), when any of the analytic sections request the COGS (e.g. the dashboard). The currently saved prices in the Manual COGS section are used in the total COGS calculation rather than the previously calculated database values with each order.

If the "Database COGS Sync" is turned on. When any of the analytic sections request the COGS. The previously calculated and saved COGS order values from the database are used instead of calculating the COGS with the currently listed Manual COGS prices. 

The above setting allows for the scenario in which some of the prices for Manual COGS may change. 

So if you would like to edit your Manual COGS now without affecting the previously calculated COGS values. This setting has to be turned on.
